Castles and more Charcoal Drawings

The Bees and Little Eagles became architects and created their own Castles using collage materials last week. The lesson tied into the Medieval time period they have been learning about in History class. Our vocabulary words are: column, dome, arch, facade, turret, architects, moat, drawbridge.







The Elephants completed their realistic value portraits:


This project strengthened their perception of value and tone, which will help them complete the next assignment: Charcoal Collage Self-Portraits. The Big Eagles have already begun this assignment. Using the charcoal exploration lesson, the students cut up their textures to create a portrait of their likeness. Here are some mid-progress photos:
